Our time in Kibera has been AMAZING. The days have been super busy, but right now we are kicking back and drinking iced coffee at our favorite cafe. No complaints.
Here is an update as to what has been going on with the Kibera Penda Project this week.
As many of you know, we started 30 kids at Langata High School this year through our scholarship program. We have had amazing sponsors that have agreed to support a student for the year and part of this trip has been checking up on the program to make sure things are running smoothly. We were able to attend an after-school study hall these past few days to help the students with their school work and prepare for their end of term exams. One of my favorite parts of this trip has been hanging out with the kids at this study hall. I found myself several times looking around the room at our kids faces in amazement. It's so great to be able to see a vision we've had for so long become a reality. Kibera Penda Project was able to provide new textbooks for the students this week - a gift they were extremely grateful for!
We have also had the opportunity to work at the New Hope Primary School with the younger kids in the Kibera Penda Project. We have been able to go into the classrooms to talk with the students and answer any questions they have.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but so much has been accomplished this week!! Thank you so much for all of the support you have shown the Kibera Penda Project. I wish everyone could be able to look into the faces of the children who's lives have been changed by your love.
