Details of an Amazing Week!!

Hey guys,

Words cannot begin to express what an amazing trip we had last week to Kibera. Other than it being a successful business trip (we were able to work out a lot of finance and logistics issues we were facing), we reached new levels of personal growth with the kids in our program.

We attended three study hall sessions with the 30 students that the Penda Project is sponsoring for high school. The kids are currently preparing for their end of term exams, and we were able to sit with them and help tutor them as they studied. We also gave the students their first computer experience!! Many of the kids have never used a computer, and we provided laptops during study hall so that they could type letters to their sponsors!

We were also able to spend a lot of time at New Hope Primary School with the younger students. We talked with the 7th and 8th graders about studying hard so that they can be eligible to receive sponsorships for high school. The kids are well aware of what is expected of them, and they are working hard to be able to get the chance to continue their education.

Kibera Penda Project is about to begin a new opportunity for you to be able to show Kibera love!!

During the week, we noticed that many of the primary school kids lacked adequate uniforms for school - simply because their families cannot afford it. We are starting a new project where you can buy a uniform for a child in the Kibera Penda Project! As soon as this project is launched, we will be releasing more information on how you can help so be on the lookout!!!

In closing, the Kibera Penda Project wants to thank everyone for the support you have shown. None of this would be possible if it weren't for the people who caught our vision and stepped out to team up with the Kibera Penda Project. You will never fully understand the difference your love is making in the lives of the children of Kibera - and even though many of you will never get to meet these kids this side of heaven - your impact is HUGE and they love YOU more than words can say.
