I'd like to start this blog with a huge THANKS to everyone who bought merchandise on our web store and at our event booth! Through all of your generous support, we were able to raise enough money last year by selling shirts, Kibera art and jewelry to be able to provide scholarships for 144 students at New Hope Primary School in Kibera slum! Many families in the slum are not able to pay the fees for their children to attend school - and your purchases of Kibera Penda Project merchandise were able to help those families and give children in Kibera a chance to grow and succeed by providing them an education!
The tuition at New Hope Primary School goes to buy uniforms, desks, supplies and pay the salary of the teachers who work hard everyday teaching the children of Kibera slum. We are hoping to be able to continue supporting the children of New Hope Primary School this year the same way we did last year! We will soon be releasing new crafts, jewelry and shirts that will be sold online and at events to show the slum some love!
