Kure For Kibera Update and Benefit Info!!!

Hey Dear Friends!

Just wanted to update you guys on what's going on with KURE FOR KIBERA. This year our plan is have some more educational workshops - it will be a little more specific and teen geared - and one workshop will be an abstinence program. Teen pregnancy and HIV/AIDS are serious issues that the youth of Kibera face. We will be promoting abstinence and asking the kids to make a commitment to be faithful and abstain from sex. The second workshop is a targeted for the girls. We are focusing on teaching the girls' healthy and sanitary living with the resources they have. The third workshop is going to educate the junior high kids about the different kinds of diseases and infections that are prevalent in Kibera. We want them to learn how to prevent from getting it or how to live with it without spreading it. The fourth workshop will be for the parents. We will be having a parenting skills workshop that will inform the parents about what diseases and infections there are and how these diseases can affect their families. Each of these clinics will be interactive with skits and fun presentations. We not only want to educate them, but we want to bless them with basic medical supplies. If you feel called to help out we have plenty of ways to join us! One way is to donate basic medical supplies such as:

Bandaids (100pack)

Neosporin (large size)

Rubbing alcohol (one bottle)

Sanitary napkins

Bag of cotton balls

Tub of Petroleum jelly

Used shoes and eye glasses

-These donations can be dropped off at our benefit we will be having on May 6th, 2010 (details below) or you can contact us at kiberapendaproject@gmail.com.

In addition to the workshops we hope to do future medical testing on the kids. This has been a process we are still praying about because of the all the logistics that have to be smoothed out before we test them. In hopes for a future clinic, we will be raising funds for equipment for the facility. Thank you for your support and love!

Come and check us out! KureForKibera is having a Medical Benefit to raise funds for medical supplies and medications for the children, funds for a permanent health clinic and for the upcoming medical mission trip to Kibera.

We will be at Six Lounge on 117 West 4th. St. Austin, TX on Thursday, May 6th, 2010. From 7-10pm.
